For me, letterpress is the voice that’s been whispering in the back of my head for the past 10+ years. I taught myself calligraphy and design after my now 12 year-old was born, but the itch still wasn’t scratched. I took a private letterpress workshop from Andrew and Joey (the previous founders/owners of Public heyo!) and when I told them to call their “press guy” because I finally had the time and space to start my own business, they sat me down and told me they were actually selling Public Print and WOULDILIKETOBUYIT. Um, where do I sign? Although I’ve never wanted to be a businessperson, I knew this was what I wanted to be doing and I couldn’t pass it up. And those first few months were hard (let’s face it, it’s still hard), but I never felt like it was the wrong choice. I have loved diving into this beautiful art that’s been around for so long and creating pieces that are a part of so many people’s special moments.
